Cradled by the mighty Zambezi and perched at the very brink of Victoria Falls, Livingstone Island offers an experience unlike any other on Earth.
This is Mosi-oa-Tunya — The Smoke That Thunders — and here, you can stand, swim, and dine on the edge of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Accessible only by boat and open seasonally, you’re invited to explore Victoria Falls in an immersive and memorable way.
Whether you’re braving Devil’s Pool, exploring on a walking safari, or savouring a gourmet meal with uninterrupted views, every visit is a once-in-a-lifetime moment — suspended between earth and sky.

Highlights

  • THE EXPERIENCE
  • Just a 10-minute boat ride from the Zambezi’s edge, Livingstone Island is where adventure meets awe. Operated exclusively by Green Safaris, this seasonal, small-group experience takes you right to the heart of Victoria Falls — to the very spot where water plunges 108 metres into the gorge below.
  • WHAT TO EXPECT
  • Your journey begins at the Livingstone Island Launch Site, located just 1.3 km from the Royal Livingstone Hotel’s entrance. From here, you’ll board a jet boat or speedboat (depending on river conditions) and cruise upstream through the fast-moving channels of the Zambezi River. Once you arrive, your expert guide will lead you on a walking tour of the island, sharing insights into its geology, flora, fauna, and remarkable history — including stories of early explorers and the island’s significance as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Depending on the season and Zambezi water levels, your visit may include a dip in Devil’s Pool, Angel’s Pool, or Rock Pool — natural infinity pools perched right at the edge of the Falls. Swimming is only available when river levels are low enough and is recommended for confident swimmers only.
  • The experience concludes with a 5-star gourmet meal prepared fresh on the island. Whether it’s a sunrise Breezer, a leisurely island lunch, or indulgent High Tea, dining here is an unforgettable sensory moment — with locally inspired dishes and the constant soundtrack of the Falls in the background.
  • Visits are capped at 24 guests per session, with five sessions per day to ensure a personalised and low-impact experience.
